Evidence-based Treatments & Therapies That Work.

Federal City Recovery Services offers a full continuum of care for individuals working to overcome substance use disorder and related mental health challenges. Every program is grounded in evidence-based practice, strong clinical partnerships, and a commitment to real-time improvement.

Our trained, credentialed, and licensed team includes therapists, counselors, nurses, and case managers—all working together to support each client’s recovery with integrity, structure, and respect.

We don’t just provide services. We build relationships—because lasting recovery starts with trust. This partnership is foundational to every level of care we offer.

Evidence-Based Methods We Use

  • Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) helps clients strengthen their own desire and commitment to change. This approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration—not confrontation. Through guided self-reflection and goal-setting, clients explore the impact of substance use on their lives and uncover their own reasons for pursuing recovery. MET supports personal growth by building motivation from within—because lasting change starts with believing it’s possible.

  • Motivational Interviewing empowers clients to make meaningful change in their lives. We help each person recognize that they matter—and that they are their own greatest advocate. Motivational interviewing is integrated across our programs to build confidence and enhance results.

  • Many clients come to us with a history of trauma, including PTSD. With Trauma-Focused Therapy, our therapists help clients manage painful emotions, develop grounding techniques, and build resilience—so they can move forward without being defined by the past.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps to address the root causes of relapse by targeting unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. Our clinicians use CBT to teach healthy coping strategies and help clients respond rationally to stress and triggers.

  • The Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) is designed to help young people build a life worth living in recovery. This evidence-based model focuses on replacing substance use with healthy, rewarding activities and supportive relationships. Through structured sessions and real-world skill-building, youth learn to make positive choices, improve family communication, and create a future they believe in. Every step reinforces their ability to grow, connect, and succeed—on their own terms.

  • The Living in Balance curriculum helps clients develop the tools they need for lasting recovery and a stable life. Rooted in practical, real-world strategies, this approach addresses the physical, emotional, and social aspects of addiction. Clients learn how to manage cravings, handle stress, build healthy relationships, and make informed decisions. Every session reinforces the connection between self-awareness and self-control—helping individuals create a balanced, purpose-driven life.

Our Services

  • Clients who are enrolled in our outpatient treatment program visit Federal City Recovery Services’s substance use disorder treatment centers for behavioral counseling regularly.  Our program has individual and group counseling sessions suitable for those who do not need 24/7 supervision or detoxification.

Clients can live at home when they receive their treatment. Therefore, their regular routines will not be heavily disrupted while in the program and they are still able to be involved in structured, person-centered therapeutic activities.

  • Federal City Recovery Service’s residential treatment program is delivered by a team of professionals with the skills and qualifications needed to fully meet the client’s individual needs for recovery.

We regularly review the progress of our residents to make sure they are on target with meeting the goals of their plan of care.

Residents are required to attend regular behavioral therapy, skills training, and coaching groups, and they are encouraged to practice the skills they have learned daily. They also attend individual counseling sessions provided by an onsite therapist. An onsite nurse is available to residents for medical needs.

  • A major aspect of our youth-focused recovery approach is helping young people reclaim their lives, their potential, and their future. Our program is a comprehensive treatment experience built specifically for adolescents and young adults navigating substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health challenges.

Our program provides more than just therapy—it builds a pathway toward stability, resilience, and long-term recovery. Through evidence-based counseling, creative expression, family involvement, and structured recreational support, participants learn how to manage emotions, rebuild trust, and develop the life skills essential for sustained wellness.

Each young person receives a customized, person-centered care plan, backed by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team. We don’t just help youth avoid relapse—we help them build a life worth staying sober for. Whether it’s staying on track with school, reconnecting with family, or learning how to self-advocate, Federal City Recovery Services is where recovery begins and transformation takes root.

  • Federal City Recovery Services offers Medication-Monitored Withdrawal Management, including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) as part of our integrated care model. MAT may include medications such as Suboxone (buprenorphine) or naltrexone, in combination with counseling and peer support. This approach is evidence-based and effective in supporting recovery from opioid and alcohol use disorders.

We conduct a thorough client assessment to help them determine their specific path to recovery and treatment. If during this process we assess that the withdrawal process is not a threat to their life and is able to be managed without any medical intervention, we will provide appropriate residential treatment services.

  • Our services in the Transitional & Recovery Housing Program offers safe housing to individuals looking to break the strongholds from drug and alcohol addiction and all related behaviors that tempt them into relapsing. Federal City Recovery Services knows that a high quality housing program improves self-esteem and prepares the client for a healthy and solid lifestyle free from drug and alcohol abuse.

All housing residents have full access to mental health services and counseling. The houses have skilled house managers who are adamant about following the guidelines and rules set forth by the Director. The residents are responsible and in charge of daily household operations and are monitored and evaluated to ensure that the program objectives are met.

  • Our well-trained Case Managers and Clinicians assist clients with their physical and psychiatric coordination with the medical providers. They are invaluable because of their multi-skills: tracking medication documents, facilitating appointments, providing vocational and housing rehabilitation services, and doing employment referral and counseling.

A case management service is just as important and mandatory as a thorough treatment plan for the continual improvement of client care. Federal City Recovery Service’s case management service reflects all the key parts of our care planning process and our support teams and counselors maintain and implement the service at every level of the client’s treatment and recovery journey.
